Hello, it’s Michael from MoxTea.com Sales can seem like a tough game to play but, as I teach in my online course, it is a game anyone can play. No one is naturally gifted at Sales and, in fact, those that are a bit shy and/or less talkative become the most successful at selling (i.e. those that defy the stereotype of the hotshot Salesperson with the gift of the gab). Why is this? Because when we close our mouths, we open our ears and listen more intently. Success in Sales is largely about listening and understanding your client or customer. With that said, here’s a list of fundamental Sales tips you can use today to improve your selling potential.
- Listen more than you speak. By listening to your client/customer you can understand their needs, their wants, and (not to sound cheesy) their dreams. You can then identify their problems and provide a solution with whatever you sell. This will make selling virtually effortless in that you can then communicate how your product or service will improve their lives rather than throwing darts blindfolded trying to hit a target. By listening you can also ask the right questions.
- Think relationally. Dovetailing from the above point, think in terms of relationships. This is much stronger than a cold, transactional exchange that most who Sell mistakenly believe, and quickly fail. A customer/client that you build rapport and trust with will return to you in the future, and stay loyal despite other competitors. Not only that, they will tell all their friends, family, or rave about you in glowing reviews. All this builds your success well into the future with lifelong customers.
- Add Value and know what you sell. This is showing the value of your product/service (how it will improve their lives) and also the value from purchasing from you (someone you can trust, a warranty, your support and expertise). In my online course at Spark Sell, I always emphasize the importance of using what you sell. Your own experience adds value and credibility. If your work selling suits, you could say, “I’m wearing this suit right now, the fabric is super comfortable” then upsell or cross-sell with “See this pattern of tie goes perfectly” OR “I use the extra stitched for durability.” By knowing what you sell, inside out, you will exhibit more knowledge, confidence, and understanding of the customer’s/cient’s needs.
In my online Sales Course, I teach many more fundamentals and provide real world examples of how to use each one. However, these 3 fundamental tips will give you an advantage in Selling and make the very act of Selling less stressful and much more fun. If used effective, as I show, the client or customer will convince and sell to themselves!
Thanks for reading and happy Selling,
Michael
